Kathie Purdy may be a new name on the election ballot, but she is a very familiar face in the Democratic Party. For years, she has worked tirelessly behind the scenes on local campaigns. I have always depended on her for my campaigns to help formulate ideas, make phone calls, stuff envelops or put up signs.
I have had the pleasure of attending many caucuses, conventions and meetings with Kathie. When there is work to be done, you can always depend on her to come through successfully.
That is why I am so excited that Kathie is running for state representative in Saco. Her energy, advocacy and understanding of the issues facing Maine citizens is exactly what we need in Augusta.
Kathie has strong roots in Saco. She was the assistant store manager of Shaw’s for 27 years. She now owns a small business in Saco with her husband. Her two children were all raised in Saco, and after they graduated from UMaine, they made their homes in Saco.
Kathie will work hard for her constituents and listen to their needs. She is running as a Maine Clean Election candidate, so she is not raising money from special interests. I’m voting for Kathie Purdy in the primary election on June 14, and I hope you will too!
Sen. Linda Valentino
District 31, Saco

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way.
