SPHS musicians perform at All-State Music Festival

The Collins Center for the Arts at the University of Maine at Orono was the setting for the All-State Music Festival May 21, when the following musicians from South Portland High School performed:

• All-State Band – Owen Doane, trombone; Griffin Gingrich, baritone horn; Jesse Pearlman, trumpet; and Julia Stanton, clarinet.
• Orchestra Andrew Farm, French horn
• Treble choir – Elizabeth Foster, Phoebe Little and Amelia Papi
• Mixed choir – Ben Donnangelo, Emma Jones and Angela Moline

SPHS frosh visit UMO

Seven freshmen from South Portland High School visited the University of Maine at Orono as part of the UMO/4-H collaborative – Connecting Kids to Campus. The aim of the program is to have middle and high school students become familiar with the University of Maine campus. Ben Sivik, Hussein Maow, Phoebe Allen, Coby Downs, Yousif Hussein, Grace Flaherty and Hannah Theriault stayed in dorm rooms overnight, ate at the dining halls, and attended workshops presented by UMaine professors to get a real feel of what college can offer.
