BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick Junior High School baseball team dropped a close 2-1 decision to Auburn on Tuesday.

Auburn scored the winning run in the seventh for the walk-off win as the Huskies ended their season with a 3-7 record, including four one-run setbacks.

Noah Goddard battled hard on the mound for the Huskies, going six-plus innings with six strikeouts, five walks and four hits. Reliever Scout Masse relieved with the bases loaded and nobody out in the seventh, but he nearly escaped when he retired the next two Auburn hitters. But, a flyball got lost in the sun and dropped, allowing the winning run to cross the plate.

Brunswick’s lone run came in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Trey McKenzie that scored Cam Hathaway. Coenradt Taylor and Hank Burnham played well defensively for Brunswick.
