A Bath man was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly breaking into the office of a campground on Burnette Road.
Freeport police were called to Recompence Shore Campground at 8:15 a.m. for the reported burglary and found a broken window, through which someone got inside and stole two iPads and cash, according to Acting Freeport Police Chief Susan Nourse.
Police arrested Anthony Alvarez, 20, of Bath and charged him with Class C burglary, a felony based on the value of items taken. Alvarez was also charged with Class C theft by unauthorized taking and criminal mischief for breaking the window.
Nourse said police located several kinds of drugs in his possession leading and charged Alvarez with unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs. He allegedly has several Xanex pills, residual cocaine and methylenedioxy methamphetamine, also known as Ecstasy.
Alvarez, who was visiting people renting space at the campground, was taken to Cumberland County Jail and was arraigned Wednesday according to Nourse.
