The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire that destroyed an unoccupied building located in Round Pond, a village in the Lincoln County town of Bristol.

Bristol Fire Chief Paul Leeman Jr. said the single-story house on Route 32 does not have electricity or running water.

When firefighters arrived around 1:15 p.m. Sunday, the house was engulfed in flames. A previous occupant of the home had moved to another town about 10 days ago, Leeman said.

Crews from Bristol, South Bristol and Damariscotta knocked the fire down in less than 10 minutes. No injuries were reported.

The firefighting operation and debris cleanup forced Leeman to shut Route 32 down for about 2 hours.
