BRUNSWICK — The Amtrak Exhibit Train, a traveling museum showcasing the past, present and future of America’s railroads will roll into Brunswick Station for free tours as part of Brunswick Train Day.
The Exhibit Train is celebrating the 45th anniversary of Amtrak this weekend with a colorful timeline showing the milestones in the history of since its operations began on May 1, 1971. Interactive displays include railroad horns, trivia questions, workable signals and an engineer’s stand.
Brunswick Train Day is Saturday, 1–5 p.m. at the Brunswick Visitor Center and Train Station at 16 Station Ave. and will include an array of free activities. In addition to the
Amtrak Exhibit Train, the event will include a model train display by the Maine 3- Railers, a railroad-themed kids activity area, samples of Maine Made products from the Amtrak Downeaster, train merchandise, giveaways and more.
Amtrak has also partnered with The National Park Service in celebration of their centennial. A special National Park Service passport stamp has been created to commemorate this milestone. It will be available at all Exhibit Train stops.
