NORTH BERWICK — The Noble softball team got a strong pitching performance from Shaughnessey Gower and timely hits from several players as the No. 6 Knights picked up a 6-1 win over No. 11 Bonny Eagle in the Class A South prelims on Tuesday.
Gower would go the distance in the circle, striking out seven, while allowing seven hits and not walking a batter.
The Knights would get two runs in the first, one in the third and three big insurance runs in the fifth inning.
In the fifth, Kassidy Lessard produced an RBI double and Gower helped herself with an RBI single.
Tyler Chastney led Noble with three hits, including a double and two runs scored, while Kayla Lessard had two singles and Mackenzie Aleva also had two hits, one RBI and two runs scored.
Kendra Silvers had a two-run single for Noble, which needed extra innings to pick up a 1-0 win over Bonny Eagle in the regular season.
The Knights will now head to No. 3 Biddeford on Thursday for the Class A South Quarterfinals.
