Together Days, the annual two-day community festival in Westbrook, delivered again in attracting thousands of people to Riverbank Park.

The event kicked off Friday, June 3, and continued until dark on Saturday, June 4, culminating in the annual fireworks display in Riverbank Park. Notable favorites returned this year, including the annual parade Saturday morning, carnival rides, games and food and the charity auction.

Together Days, in its 37th year, is the largest event organized yearly by the Westbrook-Gorham Community Chamber. It’s known to attract between 15,000-20,000 people.

Suzanne Joyce, who served as co-chairman for the festival committee this year, said Monday that the weekend was “a hit,” while initial forecasts for rain Saturday turned into warmth and sun. The fireworks display, however, was moved up by a half hour to avoid fog.

According to Phil Spiller, a chamber member, the annual charity auction hosted by The Swanson Group and Saco & Biddeford Savings Institute raised roughly $12,000 for youth scholarships – a record number for the auction. He added that the parade may have been the longest in the festival’s history.

Westbrook Mayor Colleen Hilton said Monday that the festival was an “incredible success.” She thanked the city’s public safety officials, and the public services crew, who is charged with cleaning up after the event on Sunday.
