A Bath man is in critical condition after he was stabbed during a fist fight between three people that escalated Thursday night.
Bath Police Sgt. Michael Lathrop said police responded to 32 South St. at 7:22 p.m. for a report of a stabbing. I fight had occurred inside the home at that address involving three men, all from Bath, and one man was stabbed in the abdomen with a butterfly knife.
Lathrop said the man ran out of the house to a bystander, a Bath Iron Works employee, who reported the stabbing. The injured man was taken to Maine Medical Center and as of 9 p.m. was in critical condition and undergoing surgery.
Police aren’t releasing names of the men involved, and are still investigating what spurred the fight. A suspect was arrested and the second man, who was punched at one point during the confrontation, is being categorized as a witness.
