WELLS — The No. 8 Wells baseball team beat the visiting No. 9 Lincoln squad 6-0 Wednesday afternoon in the Class B South prelims.
Cody Cousins led the Warriors on the mound, pitching a one-hit, complete game shutout, not surrendering a hit until the seventh.
Wells scored two runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings.
Charlie Bell and Shawn Ramsey earned RBI singles, while Cousins added an RBI double.
Tim Barnard also had a solid game at the plate, getting two hits on the day.
The Warriors will now face No. 1 Cape Elizabeth in today’s quarterfinals.
Softball
Wells 12, Gray-New Gloucester 5
No. 9 Wells cruised to a win over No. 8 Gray- New Gloucester in the Class B South preliminary round. The Warriors will face No. 1 York in today’s quarterfinals.
Boys Lacrosse
Westbrook 17, Biddeford 2
The No. 7 Biddeford boys lacrosse team fell to No. 2 Westbrook on Wednesday in the Class A South quarterfinals. Westbrook delivered from the start, jumping out to an 8-0 lead in the first. Biddeford’s two goals came in the third, but Westbrook held on to the win.
Girls Lacrosse
Massabesic 12, Scarborough 5
The No. 2 Mustangs topped No. 7 Scarborough Wednesday afternoon. The Mustangs shut out the Red Storm 5-0 in the first half, and worked through a tough Scarborough attack in the second to secure the win.
