A 19-month-old boy died Monday from injuries he received in an ATV crash Sunday, June 12, in Windham.

The boy was riding on the ATV with his father, 32, and two other children, ages 6 and 4. While going up a hill on the man’s property at 20 Laskey Lane, the Yamaha Big Bear 350 rolled over backwards, according to the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

The boy was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he died. No information was available about whether the others involved were injured.

The boy was riding between his father’s legs and the two other children were riding behind the man, according to a press release. Game wardens believe those on the ATV were not wearing helmets.

The Maine Warden Service will work with the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office on the case, which remains under investigation.

Windham Police and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department assisted wardens at the scene.
