Spindleworks has announced “The Forest Through the Trees,” an All Species exhibit to benefit the Brunswick Topsham Land Trust. Set to run through July and August in Brunswick, the exhibit draws attention to planet Earth both to celebrate and to raise awareness of the diversity of species, all of which are affected by our actions and inactions. This exhibit explores diversity of plant life and draws attention to the importance of plants in creating natural habitat for the world’s animal species.
This, the sixth exhibit in the series, has drawn artists from across Maine and across the country. Thirty percent from each sale will be donated to the Brunswick- Topsham Land Trust. A Silent Auction of art and handmade items will take place at the opening on July 15 from 5-8 p.m., with all proceeds benefitting the Land Trust.
Spindleworks is a non-profit art center for adults with disabilities and a program of the Independence Association of Brunswick, whose mission is to help children and adults with disabilities achieve full and inclusive lives in their chosen community. Artists attending the program receive supplies, studio space and guidance as needed. Their work is exhibited in the Whatnot Gallery and Store at Spindleworks, as well as in local and national art shows. The gallery is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and artists are on site Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
