Normand A. Binette, 87, of Biddeford, died in his sleep on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at his home.

He was born in Biddeford on April 1, 1929, the son of William and Laura Frappier Binette, and was educated in Biddeford schools.

On Dec. 2, 1950, he married Marie Pearl Fournier in St. Margaret’s Church in Old Orchard Beach.

Mr. Binette worked for 10 years with Pepperell Manufacturing Co. in Biddeford and Bates Manufacturing Co. in Saco. He last worked for 38 years with Biddeford & Saco Water Co., retiring in 1991.

Normand served with the Maine National Guard, and was a member of the York County Veterans Alliance. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling and dancing.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by: his wife of 65 years of Biddeford; two sons, Normand A. Binette Jr. and his wife Mary of Vernon, Connecticut, and Leo Binette and his wife Barbara of Saco; two daughters, Yvonne Marchand and her husband Donald of Biddeford, and Nancy Binette of Biddeford; seven grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be 9- 10 a.m. Monday, June 20, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
