From the Journal Tribune: “The $34,136,325 budget for Maine School Administrative District 57 was passed by voters in Alfred, Limerick, Lyman, Newfield, Shapleigh and Waterboro on Tuesday. Additional locals funds, as proposed in Article 17, were rejected, however, 1,202 to 973. Article 12, which would expand the allowed users of the junior high school building to include high school and elementary grades, was passed by 59.54 percent margin.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “A common market between the United States and Canada could add $50 to $100 million a year to Maine’s economy, Frederick A. Halla said today. Halla, seeking the Republican first district congressional nomination, said Portland and Seaport are natural outlets for imports and exports shopped to and from Canada.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “Preparations are now being made for a playground d at Clifford park. The season will begin probably the last week of June, continuing for 10 weeks. Miss VIola Campell will be in charge of the work and it is expected that her assistants will include E.D. Pigeon. The local water company will lay down pipes at once that drinking water can be furnished through a bubbling fountain.”
