BIDDEFORD — The Biddeford Recreation Department began its summer camps program this week and there will be several camps offered to local kids throughout the summer.

BRITISH CHALLENGE SOCCER CAMP
For the 12th consecutive year, Biddeford Rec will offer this soccer camp, which will be led by instructors from Europe.
The camp is set for July 18-22 at Dave Redmond Field in Rotary Park. The lead instructors come from British Challenger Soccer (www.challengersports.com).
There will be several different age groups ranging from age 3 to 14.
BOYS BASKETBALL CAMP
Biddeford High School varsity basketball coach Justin Tardif will lead the camp, which is set for July 25-29 at the Steve White Gym at BHS. The clinic will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The fee for the camp, which is for athletes in grades 1 through 8, is $70.
JUNIOR GOLF PROGRAM
There are two separate sessions for the golf camp with the first starting today and running through Thursday. The second session will be from August 8-10.
The camp will be held at Dutch Elm Golf Course and will be led by PGA Golf Pro Jeremy Goulet. The fee is $45 per person and the clinic is for kids from age 7 to 11.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL CAMP
There will also be two sessions for the volleyball camp with the first session starting yesterday and running through Thursday. There will also be a four-day session from June 27-30. Both sessions run from 9 a.m. to noon.
This camp is for grades 6 through 11 and costs $50 per session or $80 for both sessions.
The volleyball clinic will be held at the BHS Tiger Gym and will be led by St. Joseph’s College’s Mariah Hebert and BHS head coach Chantel Tourigny.
ST. PETER’S GRAND SLAM TENNIS CAMP
This tennis camp is for players ages 8 to 18 at all skill levels. The camp will be taught by certified teaching pros and college tennis players.
The camp has produced players who have gone on to play at Harvard, Wheaton, Colby, Penn State and many other Division I, II and III schools.
The camp will run from July 5-8 at the Mayfield tennis courts and is $125 per player.
