I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the voters who showed up to the polls last week and who took the time to fill out an absentee ballot in the Democratic Primary for State Senate. An election is the last thing on people’s minds in mid-June with our beautiful Maine summer in full swing. The fact you participated in the process and fulfilled your civic duty is noteworthy.

I deeply appreciate the support for the Democratic nomination for State Senate in District 31 which includes Saco, Old Orchard Beach, Hollis, Limington and part of Buxton.

Rep. Hobbins and I ran positive campaigns and it shows our mutual respect for each other.

While we have the momentum heading into the fall, we have a lot of work ahead of us as we gear up for the general election this November. I’m confident in our ability to come together. As someone who interned with U.S. Senator Olympia Snowe prior to her retirement, I learned the necessity to work across party lines and treat people with respect regardless of any political disagreements. I apply that to my work at the State House in bringing Democrats and Republicans together to pass comprehensive campaign finance reform, pass an expansion of the Opportunity Maine Tax Credit to reduce student loan debt, and passed my bill to add community service to the list of high school graduation standards among others.

This is more than a campaign, it’s a movement. If you’d like to help us reform state government to work better for us, sign up to be a volunteer on our team. We have had anyone from age 10 to 80 help out and all are welcome. Join us at www.JustinChenette.com.

Rep. Justin Chenette
Democratic Nominee for State
Senate
