He was born in Biddeford on July 7, 1948, the son of Leo Paul and Germaine Roberge Cote, and educated in Biddeford schools.
On Sept. 5, 1970, he married Diane D. Bisson in St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford.
Mr. Cote worked as a farm hand on the family farm on the Barra Road in Biddeford for many years. He worked six years at Allied Shoe in Saco, 12 years with Saco Tanning Corp. in Saco and last worked 28 years with Pratt and Whitney in North Berwick, retiring in 2012. Roger also worked as a volunteer call-man for the Biddeford Fire Department for 30 years. He enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and loved animals.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Claire Cote, in 1967.
Surviving are: his wife of 45 years of The Villages, Florida; two sons, Scott R. Cote of Mountain Home, Idaho, and Shawn K. Cote and his wife, Lorraine, of Riverside, California; four brothers, Gilles Cote and his wife, Linda, of Lewiston, Renald Cote and his wife, Laurie, of Waterboro, Denis Cote and his girlfriend, Donna, of Sanford, and Robert Cote of Lyman; eight sisters, Claudette Guay and her husband, Conrad, of Biddeford, Madeleine Barrett and her husband, Philip, of Spruce Creek, Florida, Blanche Patoine and her husband, Ronald, of Old Orchard Beach, Solange York and her husband, Bud, of Biddeford, Denise Boucher and her husband, Wilfred, of Lyman, Mary Anne Beatson of Biddeford, Tina Edwin of Gastonia, North Carolina, and Judy Ladakakos and her husband, George, of Biddeford; and two granddaughters, Brooke M. Cote of New Jersey and Maddyson Cote of Idaho.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
