The Georgetown Working League will hold its 103rd Annual Fair on Aug. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Georgetown Central School. Leading up to that event, GWL is selling raffle tickets for this year’s hanging art quilt, which celebrates Georgetown’s tricentennial.
The quilt, designed and hand-stitched by a core group of League members, features fireworks bursting in the night sky over boats anchored in a harbor. The boats represent 300 years of maritime history, including a steamship, schooner, sloop, lobster boat, cat boat and harbor master, among others. In the foreground are darkened town rooftops.
Raffle tickets for the quilt are $1 each or $5 for a book of seven and are available weekends at Five Islands Wharf, weather permitting, the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department auction July 9, Five Islands Station, Old Schoolhouse Road., and Five Islands Farm, located at 1375 Five Islands Road.
