The Tigers had 14 hits on the day, including seven extra base hits.
Coming off a tough 2-1 loss to Alfred/Lyman on Tuesday, Biddeford coach Marcus Crowell was happy with the way his team responded.
“We lost to Alfred/Lyman in a heartbreaker, so it was nice to see our team come here today and not have their heads down. They came here today ready to play and responded well … Saco is a good team, so we feel really good about this win,” said Crowell.

Ashton Crowell kicked off the outburst with an RBI single. Will Harriman followed that up with a two-run home run in the following at bat.
Micah Ernest later produced a two-run triple, along with a sacrifice fly from Mike Alvarez to take the quick 6-0 lead.

The Tigers would score their final three runs in the fifth on a big three-run home run from Ashton Crowell to deep centerfield to take the 12-1 lead and secure the victory.
“The thing that was tough about yesterday was that we just couldn’t get the timely hits … we had runners on all night but just couldn’t come up with the big hit. Today, it wasn’t like that and the kids came in hungry, they came in ready to work,” said Marcus Crowell.
Biddeford’s pitching also came up big for the Tigers, allowing just one run on a sacrifice fly from Saco’s Anthony Jones in the second inning.
Kalvin Camire got the start for Biddeford, pitching two innings and allowing one run on one hit and striking out a batter. Dion pitched the following two innings in relief and allowed no runs, no hits and collected four strikeouts. Mikey Alvarez would close out the fifth with a 1-2-3 inning.
“They did well today, I think we have a lot of depth pitching-wise and we have guys with good command that throw strikes,” said Marcus Crowell. “Now our backs are against the wall and we picked the hard way, we have to win four more games, so we are going to need that depth and for guys to throw innings and strikes.”
Saco’s Cameron Schaffer took the hill for Saco and pitched the opening two innings, striking out two batters along the way. Blaise Fournier pitched the following three innings in relief, collecting three strikeouts.
Wednesday’s loss eliminates Saco from the tournament. Biddeford will play it’s next game Tuesday, and the Tigers hope to gain some momentum as the summer progresses.
“We need to just take it one game at a time. We want to show up to the field and say, ‘we have an opportunity to win,’” said Marcus Crowell. “We will fight kick and scratch to win and hopefully we can move on to the next one.”
