BATH
A Bath man was taken to Maine Medical Center after the motorcycle he was driving collided with a car Saturday afternoon.
The crash was reported at 4:11 p.m. at State Road and Western Avenue.
The motorcyclist, Scott A. Bernier of Bath, was traveling north on State Road when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Barbara Johansen of Bath.
According to a press release issued by Bath Police Chief Michael Field, Bernier has been following a vehicle that turned right onto Western Avenue, which obstructed the view of both Bernier and Johansen.
Johansen was not injured. Bernier was transported to Maine Medical Center where he was admitted with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
“Speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash and there are no charges pending,” Field stated.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
