Neva Carroll, 18, of Eliot is spending her second summer in a row serving ice cream at Dairy Queen in Kittery. She works five-hour shifts four or five days a week and makes $9.50 an hour, plus tips. Collecting tips for college is a plus, says Carroll, who plans to attend dental hygiene school. Carroll enjoys managing her own window, and her favorite desserts to prepare are parfaits and banana splits. She says memorizing the growing list of Blizzard flavors is challenging, and sometimes customers can be tricky to deal with.
