PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A Berkshire County man described by a judge as “despicable” has been sentenced to up to 25 years in prison for raping two girls and a woman.
The Berkshire Eagle reports that Eric Cohen was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty last week to 14 rape and sexual assault charges.
Prosecutors say the 57-year-old New Marlborough man’s assaults dated to 1992. Cohen’s assaults on one victim started when she was 11 years old, while another victim was 15.
Authorities say Cohen also assaulted a woman in 2003 while she was a patient at North Adams Regional Hospital, where he was employed as a certified nursing assistant.
Cohen’s attorney said his client wanted to take responsibility for his actions rather than subject his victims to the rigors of trial.
