The Tigers dominated the four innings, and Biddeford coach Andy Donovan was surprised to see the lopsided score.
“It was definitely unexpected … when we play a team like Standish, we know how good they are,” said Donovan. “We told the girls that we just needed execute, focus on our team, do our jobs and what we do well, and battle it out.”
The Tigers scored a quick five runs in the first inning. After a passed ball allowed the first run to cross the plate, Biddeford would get three infield hits, each scoring a run, from Aliyah Bureau, Anna Levigne and Kaydnne Smith. Biddeford would get another run from a passed ball to take the 5-0 lead.

Hannah Gosselin kicked off the tear by hitting a two-run double to score Laura Perreault and Lexi Libby. Charlotte Donovan would add another RBI the following at bat, followed by an RBI double from Chantelle Bouchard and an RBI single from Baylor Wilkinson.
The Tigers batted around the order in the third, and Libby added two more RBIs with her second at bat. Another run would cross the plate on a passed ball, giving the Tigers the 13-0 advantage.
“I never would have predicted that we would put up as many runs as we did so early against a team like that. If we face them Saturday they’ll be ready to play … this was definitely surprising,” said Andy Donovan.
A key to the Biddeford win was two-out production. All eight of the Tigers’ runs in the third inning came with two outs.
“That’s what we’ve been focusing on for the past two weeks. We have been hitting the ball consistently for an hour and a half … we have a lot of girls that have been here before, we have many that won at a younger age division, they know it’s all about hitting,” said coach Donovan. “When you get to this level, the pitching is quicker … the girls have worked really hard on that and quite honestly, that is one thing that didn’t surprise me. We expect them to put the ball in play … that’s something they do really well.”
The Tigers also impressed in the circle and the field as well.
Charlotte Donovan took the circle for Biddeford, pitching all four innings and allowing no runs on just one hit, while the defense did not commit any errors.
Looking ahead to Saturday, Andy Donovan is confident his team will be ready to compete once again.
“We know our plays and we know what to do. It’s about not letting the crowd get in our heads or letting the moment get in our heads. We have to take one pitch at a time, and they did that very well today.”
