
Representatives from the Saco Police Department came to the church Wednesday and answered a range of questions from the students, including “Where do you keep your handcuffs?” and “Why do you wear a hat?”
The 24 students at the school decorated water bottle sleeves and gave them to members of the city’s police and fire departments.
In the wake of recent shootings of police officers, officials at the church thought it would be nice to show appreciation to local first responders, director of Christian Education Kris Galasyn said.
VBS student Theo Roberts, 9, of Newburyport, Massachusetts, who is staying with family members in the area, said he wanted to do a similar project for first responders in his hometown, because they are the people who are there when you need help.
