JONESPORT (AP) — Authorities have identified a fisherman who died over the weekend after falling in waters off Jonesport, Maine.
The Coast Guard confirmed Monday that 28-yearold Jon Popham fell off the fishing vessel Melinda Ann in Englishman Bay at about 1:50 p.m. Saturday. Authorities say he was unresponsive when fellow crew members pulled him from the water.
A Coast Guard crew took him aboard a rescue boat and performed CPR en route to Jonesport, where waiting emergency rescue personnel also tried to revive him. He was pronounced dead at about 2:30 p.m.
Authorities say the investigation into his death is continuing.
