AUGUSTA (AP) — The National Guard unit that performs midair refueling of aircraft has a new commander.
A ceremony was held this month for Col. Frank W. Roy, who’s now serving as commander of the 101st Air Refueling Wing in Bangor.
Brig. Gen. Douglas Farnham, adjutant general of the Maine National Guard, calls him an “excellent officer and the logical choice” thanks to his experience and work ethic.
Roy has more than 30 years of military service and 3,300 hours as a command pilot. He began his military career in 1986 as a medic in the Maine Army National Guard. He transitioned to the Maine Air National Guard and the 101st Air Refueling Wing in 1993.
Roy replaced Col. Adam H. Jenkins, who retired in July.
