She is survived by her children: daughter Sherry and husband Chris Ames; son Charles and wife Lisa Groves; grandchildren Chip Meadows, Wendy Nobles, and Ashley and husband Jake Stoddard; great grandchildren Tre , Kassidy, and Brody; brother Don O’Farrell; nephew Super Gary Wallace and dog Peanut. Kay enjoyed the lord and is now in heaven where her granddaughter Amber Meadows waited for her.
Most people would remember Kay from Congress Sportswear and Casco Cable but prior to that, she worked at Eastland shoe, Five County Credit Union, and L.L. Bean, spreading her love around at all of them.
She enjoyed her retirement years by accompanying the family on vacations, living with her brother, and spending time with her great grandchildren and church family. Please join us for a celebration of her life on Saturday, August 6th @1:00 pm at Main Street Baptist Church with a gathering to follow at her son’s house in Durham.
Comments are not available on this story. Read more about why we allow commenting on some stories and not on others.
We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
