BOSTON (AP) — President Barack Obama and his family are beginning their seventh and final vacation on Martha’s Vineyard as first family.
The Obamas officially arrive Saturday to start a two-week vacation.
The family has summered every August on the famous resort island off Cape Cod in Massachusetts since Obama took office in 2009, except in 2012 when he was campaigning for re-election.
Rhonda Backus, a lifelong island resident, says she appreciates that the family generally keeps a low profile during their stay.
Nancy Gardella, head of the local chamber of commerce, says businesses will miss the buzz the visits generate.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
