AUBURN (AP) — Authorities say state Route 4 was temporarily blocked off in Auburn near the Turner town line yesterday following a large leak in diesel fuel from a tractortrailer.
Sgt. Matt Daley tells The Sun Journal that roughly 70 gallons of fuel spilled onto the roadway after the truck snapped a drag shaft, which punctured its fuel tank.
The report was called in at about 1:45 p.m. Monday. Police closed the road while the Auburn Highway Department cleaned up the scene.
Maine State Police’s Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit is investigating the incident.
