ERIE, PA.

The Portland Sea Dogs (45-70) pounded out 22 hits, one shy of a team record, as they defeated the Erie SeaWolves (47-69), 16-1, on Wednesday night at Jerry Uht Park.

Portland hit five homers and established a team record with 45 total bases.

Sea Dogs pitcher Jalen Beeks (4-2) fired six scoreless on two hits, two walks and five strikeouts to earn his third straight Eastern League win. Erie’s Tommy Collier (7-7) took the loss, giving up 10 hits and seven runs over 2 1/3 innings.

The Sea Dogs had 21 of its 22 hits in the first six innings and led 15-0 through six frames. Ryan Court knocked in the first run with a single and finished 2-for-6 with a two-run homer and five RBIs. Jake Romanski led off the second with a homer to left and went 4-for-5, finishing a triple shy of the cycle.

Portland scored six runs on six hits in the third inning off Collier and David Martinez. Cody Decker led off the frame with a solo homer. Decker hit his second homer in the ninth and leads the club with 10 dingers. Tzu-Wei Lin hit a two-run homer in the third. Mauricio Dubon went 3-for- 6, three RBIs, delivering RBI hits in three straight at-bats.
