BATH — On Tuesday, Aug. 30, Patten Free Library will offer a refresher course for iPad users on Overdrive Media Console and the Maine Infonet Download Library. The session is free, open to the public, and will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Library’s second floor Community Room.
“We offer classes regularly for iPad users on how to borrow eBooks through our consortial collection,” said Roberta Jordan, an outreach and instruction librarian at Patten. “This summer, the Overdrive app, which makes library lending and reading possible, has had a major overhaul. It seems like a perfect time to offer a refresher course. As always, we will do a live demonstration that highlights the changes in the browsing and borrowing process .”
Participants should have at least an iPad 2 with the latest operating system (iOS 9.3.4) installed and should also install the Overdrive Media Console app prior to the workshop. It is also important to bring an active library card.
Pre-registration is not required. For more information, contact Jordan at [email protected] or (207) 443-5141, Ext. 25.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
