DRESDEN
Friends of Merrymeeting Bay hosts an evening Mushroom Walk on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. in Dresden. This is a free all-ages event open to the public.
President and Director of the Maine Mycological Society Michaeline Mulvey will lead this foray on property protected in large part by FOMB over five years and containing a significant prehistoric archaeological site in Maine. The property also has the largest stand of the rare plant spongy arrowhead in Merrymeeting Bay. Participants will meet in Dresden (detailed directions will be given upon required pre-registration) and are encouraged to wear good walking shoes. Attendees should bring a collection basket, and a knife and are welcome to bring mushrooms from home for show and tell or for help with identification.
Register for this outing with Ed Friedman at (207) 666-3372

Leading this circumnavigation is Warren Whitney, formerly the executive director of FOMB and currently Land Trust Program Manager, at Maine Coast Heritage Trust. Paddlers must bring their own boat and PFD and possess at least intermediate paddling skills.
