FREEPORT — Freeport police say there are no updates as they continue to investigate the Friday armed robbery of a School Street store.
The robbery was reported at Intervale Mercantile at 4 School St. at 8:36 a.m. on Friday. In a statement from Freeport Police Chief Susan Nourse, an unknown male reportedly fled the store with the owner’s wallet along with several thousands of dollars in merchandise which was placed in a leather satchel in the store. Items included knives, watches and a wallet.
The store owner was not injured.
Nourse said Monday there were no updates and that the robbery is still under investigation.
She said there was no description of the suspect or any images available to aid in his apprehension. She said police do not yet know if the incident involved only the male suspect.
Asked about the nature of the armed robbery, Nourse said no note was used, and “nothing specific was described as far as weapon.”
