
Gorham would take an early 6-0 lead in the first quarter and sustained it until halftime, but the Spartans would answer back in the second half with scores of their own.
Wide receiver Ethan Belanger hauled in a touchdown pass from quarterback Frankie Veino. Veino would later score on a two-yard touchdown, as well as Keith Kerrigan who also scored on a three-yard run. Sam Anderson would successfully pound in the two-point conversion to secure the win for Sanford.
Veino finished the night 7-17 passing with 158 yard and a touchdown. Belanger racked up 121 yards on four reception with a score, and Anderson totaled 58 yards on the ground as well.
The Spartans improve to 1-1 on the season.
Kennebunk 49, Gorham 13
The Rams cruised to a big home win over Gorham Friday night.
Jacob Littlefield led the way for Kennebunk racking up 168 yards and two touchdowns, while Pat Saunders also rushed for 44 yards and a score.
The Rams now improve to 2-0 to start the season.
Biddeford 48, Noble 0
The Tigers attacked host Noble on the ground during Friday’s shutout win. Running back Brady Crepeau kicked things off with a touchdown march to give Biddeford a 6-0 lead in the first quarter.
Crepeau would then add a second touchdown rush with less than two minutes remaining in the first to extend the lead to 12-0.
Quarterback Joey Curit would add a touchdown rush of his own in the second, followed by a score by Colin Lavigne. Curit would rush for another touchdown, followed by a safety scored by the Tiger defense to extend the lead to 34-0 at half.
Josiah Garcia would start the third quarter by taking an interception down to the Noble four, then punching it in immediately after. The Tigers would score once more to secure the win.
South Portland 48, Massabesic 7
Despite trailing just 14-0 at half, the Mustangs were not able to defend their turf in a 48-7 loss to visiting South Portland.
Field Hockey
Thornton Academy 2, Cheverus 1
After falling behind 1-0, the TA pushed past the Stags 2-1. Emma Dutremble scored both goals, including the game-winner with seven seconds left.
Issy Capozzi made nine saves on the day.
