SACO — A couple stranded on Eagle Island Sunday afternoon after their engine flooded were found uninjured after being rescued by the local fire department.

Lindsey Simmons said she and her fiancé, Jeff Parmelee, were fishing in Saco Bay in their 14-foot aluminum boat. She said the boat was close to the shore of Eagle Island when waves overtook the back of the vessel. Water came into the boat and flooded the engine and she called 911.

Saco Fire Department’s marine rescue responded, brought the couple in and towed the boat to Camp Ellis.
