Westbrook Public Safety along with Saco & Biddeford Savings and the Westbrook Hannaford supermarket, are hosting a free Kids Safety Day this weekend with free food, demonstrations and a bicycle rodeo.

The annual September event has grown to include a full slate of family-friendly events, occuring rain or shine, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 17, in the parking lot at 2 Hannaford Drive between Hannaford and Saco & Biddeford Savings in Westbrook.

Here’s the schedule:

10 a.m.-1 p.m., view smokehouse, fire trucks, ambulances and police vehicles; face painting, fire hose games, and CPR demonstrations.

11a.m.-1 p.m., visit a mock crime scene (inside the bank branch)

Ernie’s Cycle Shop and the Bicycle Coalition of Maine will be sponsoring a bicycle rodeo and providing bike safety checks throughout the event. The Michael T. Goulet Traumatic Brain Injury and Epilepsy Foundation will be giving away free bike helmets to the first 200 attendees along with a fitting and safety check. CPR demonstrations and blood pressure screening will be available, as well.

Free hot dogs, popcorn, water and soda will be available all day. The event is open to the public.
