The 8th Annual Chili, Chowda & Apple Dessert Contest sponsored by the Waterborough Historical Society will be held at the Grange Hall, 31 West Road, South Waterboro.

The judging starts at 4:30 p.m., after which the public tasting – $8 for adults; $3 for children under 12 and free for children under 5 – will begin at approximately 5 p.m. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded in all three categories at 6 p.m.

Area cooks, both professional and amateur, are invited to participate and support the society by entering a favorite dish at no charge. Contest food will be accepted between 4-4:30 p.m. Chilis and chowders need to arrive hot in crock pots. For more information, call Dianne Holden at 929-9651.

Inanna, Sisters in Rhythm, will be perform at 7 p.m. at Second Congressional Church, 19 Crescent St., Biddeford, as part of the 2016 Concert Series. An all women’s percussion and vocal ensemble, Inanna is dedicated to cultural diversity, education and healing through the universal language of music. The group blends Western vocal harmonies with rhythms of West Africa, the Middle East and Brazil, creating a multicultural fusion of tradition. Donations of $10 are suggested. A free community dinner will take place from 5-6:30 p.m. at Goodwins Mills Advent Christian Church, Mill Pond, Route 35, Goodwins Mills.

The 4th annual Heritage Day in Arundel will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the North Chapel Common site at the corner of Route 111 (Alfred Road) and Limerick Road. There will be exhibits and events such as crafts, spinning wool, quill-pen writing, wagon rides in the fields, working old engine demos and agricultural displays, as well as petting animals for the kids, food, music, local vendors and more.

The Saco River Jazz Ensemble, a 20-piece band based in the Buxton-Hollis area, will perform at Atria Kennebunk at 3:30 p.m. The group’s music focuses on the big band area of the 1930s and ’40s.

Cycle for Sweetser takes place on the scenic Eastern Trail, which runs alongside Sweetser’s Saco campus and makes for a fun ride for families, community members and biking enthusiasts. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.; rides begin at 10 a.m.

The bike ride includes three distances, including a two-mile course for kids, eight miles and 14 miles. Ages 12 and under ride for free. The individual adult fee is a $25 donation; a family rate of $60 is available.
