BRUNSWICK — A fire that damaged a house at 12 Bowdoin Street Friday night has been ruled accidental, according to police.
At the scene Friday, Brunswick Fire Chief Ken Brillant said the rear exterior of the house had caught fire, which was where most of the damage was contained to. There was a small amount of interior damage.
Brillant said the home was undergoing renovations. He said the fire and police department were investigating the cause.
Tuesday, Brunswick Police Cmdr. Mark Waltz said the fire apparently started behind the house as a result of discarded cigarettes in an area where there was sawdust and building debris.
The home is owned by Tamara Wood, Waltz said. However, contractors from the Bangor area were staying in the home during the work.
Waltz said no charges will be issued.
