SOUTH BERWICK — The Wells volleyball team grinded out a five-set win over hosting Marshwood Tuesday evening.
After dropping the first set 25-21, the Warriors would battle back and win the ensuing two sets 25-21 and 25-17.
Marshwood would then go no to win the fourth set 25- 15 to force the game-deciding fifth set.
The Hawks came out hot in the fifth set, jumping out to an 8-2 lead. The Warriors would catch fire the rest of the way and pull off the 15-13 win and secure the victory.
Kait Schott had an impressive day for Wells, racking up 10 aces and 27 assists. Olivia Brousseau also had a solid outing, collecting five aces, three blocks, a kill and a dig.
Wells improves to 3-3 on the season.
Golf
Biddeford 6, Massabesic 6
The Tigers topped Massabesic in a tight battle Tuesday afternoon at Dutch Elm.
Carter Burnell led the Tigers with a score of 43 while teammate Logan Magnant finished close behind at 45.
Massabesic’s Caleb Roy shot a match-low score of 40.
Gray-New Gloucester 7, Wells 0
Wells was shutout by GNG Tuesday afternoon at Spring Meadows Country Club. Nate Olsen shot a team-low 51 while teammate Chuck Oliver shot a 53.
Noble 10, Sanford 3
Despite falling to Noble, a handful of Spartans had impressive outings Wednesday. Jordan D’Alessandro led the Spartans with a score of 40, while Geoffrey Howe finished with 46.
Boy’s Soccer
Portland 4, Masabesic 1
The Bulldogs cruised to a big win over Massabesic Tuesday. All five goals were scored in the first half, with Cameron Goodrich scoring the Mustangs’ lone goal on an assist from Ethan Ouellette.
Girl’s Soccer
Old Orchard Beach 0, Sacopee Valley 0
The Seagulls tied Sacopee Valley 0-0. OOB goalie Tiffany LeClair recorded 12 saves on the day.
Volleyball
Biddeford 3, Thornton Academy 0
The Tigers swept the Trojans in three sets Tuesday, with scores of 25-8, 25-5 and 25-18.
Field Hockey
Kennebunk 1, Yarmouth 0
The Rams grinded out a close win over Yarmouth in overtime.
After a scoreless regulation, the Rams would get the game-winner from Britney Gregoire on a pass from Grace Grenier to secure the win.
Goalie Liv Kudas tallied seven saves for the Rams.
