ROCKLAND
The Mt. Ararat High School golf team completed a preseason goal on Friday, capturing the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A Championship on Friday at Rockland Country Club.
The Eagles shot a team score of 165 to win by five strokes over Camden Hills, with Brewer in third place at 186.
Caleb Manuel led the way for Mt. Ararat with a 35, with Steven Schuman (42), Cam Cox (43) and Cade Charron (45) rounding out the top four Eagle scorers. Will Kavanaugh (47) and Ben Hickson (51) also competed for Mt. Ararat.
Next up for the Eagles is the KVAC Qualifier on Tuesday at Natanis Golf Club in Vassalboro.
The KVAC Class B competition was a bit tighter, with Erskine Academy (168) capturing the title by one stroke over Maine Central Institute (169), Gardiner (170) and Waterville (176).
