SACO (AP) — The Amtrak’s Downeaster is being disrupted by track upgrades.
The Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority says four southbound and northbound trains will run daily only between Wells and Boston. Two mid-day routes are being canceled altogether.
The schedule is being altered to the track owner, Pan Am Railways, can replace 15,000 railroad ties.
The repairs are scheduled to last six weeks, with service returning to normal by Nov. 18.
In the interim, the rail authority says buses and vans are being provided to get riders to and from Wells from Brunswick, Portland, Old Orchards and Saco.
