BRUNSWICK
Kira Wolpow exploded for five goals to lift the Brunswick High School girls soccer team to a 6-1 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Lawrence on Tuesday.
The Dragons improved to 7-3 and host Edward Little on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Bailey Hartill added a goal for the hosts, with Dina Murphy and Maeve Arthur dishing out two assists. A helper each went to Mikaela Aschbrenner and Rae Bamberger.
Jaden Gray had the lone goal for the Bulldogs.
In goal, Beth Labbe had six saves for Brunswick, with Hayley Reynolds turning aside four shots for Lawrence.

The host Falcons sailed to a Western Maine Conference win over the Knights.
Taylor Rinaldi led the way for the hosts with two goals, while goaltender Jordan Randall turned away seven shots.
Madison Simard and Sophie Vallee combined on 15 saves for the 3-7 Knights.
Freeport improved to 6-3-1 and visits York on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Golf
VASSALBORO — The KVAC Qualifier was held on Tuesday at Natanis Golf Club.
Class A golfers played on the par-72 Arrowhead course.
Mt. Ararat captured the win, shooting a team score of 310 to edge Camden Hills by three strokes. Edward Little (333), Messalonskee (337) and Lewiston (340) rounded out the top five.
Brunswick finished ninth with a score of 356.
The State Class A Team Championship will held on Saturday back at Natanis at 10 a.m.
Players shooting 82 or better qualified for the individual championship, which will held on Oct. 15 at Natanis.
Area golfers qualifying were Mt. Ararat’s Caleb Manuel (73), Cam Cox (73) and Cade Charron (80), while Brunswick’s Zach Grant (82) advanced.
Eagles Steven Schuman (84), Ben Hickson (84) and Will Kavanaugh (88) played on Tuesday, along with Dragons Jack Bates (85), Sam Sharpe (88), Emma Parke (101), Oliver Bird (102) and Bronte Fontaine (108).
The top scorer on Tuesday was Camden’s Cole Anderson, who fired a 3-under par 69 to edge Cox and Manuel by four shots.
Boys soccer
FAIRFIELD — Brunswick improved to 3-4-3 with a 5-2 KVAC victory over Lawrence.
Henry Doherty scored a pair of goals in the first half and finished off his hat trick in the second half as the Dragons grabbed a 4-0 lead. Chris Glover finished off a cross from Lee Taylor in the opening half for Brunswick, and Glover and Zach Boyle earned an assist each.
Lawrence battled back, getting a pair of unassisted goals from Zoli Nagye to cut the deficit to 4-2.
But, Brunswick freshman Everett Horch scored his first varsity goal with eight minutes remaining to put the Bulldogs away.
Josh Dorr and Jared Hummer split time in the Dragons’ net, combining on 15 saves. Christopher Goulette had 14 saves for Lawrence.
Brunswick returns to action on Friday at Edward Little, with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Eriksen Shea scored three goals to lead the visiting Falcons to a WMC win over Poland.
Freeport, which improved to 6-4-1 and hosts York on Friday at 3:30 p.m., also received two goals from Colby Wagner.
Matt Theberge and Ben Bernier combined on 13 saves for the Knights (0-11), while Joe Burke turned away six shots for Freeport.

Tucker Banger scored off a Declan Hall feed with 8:29 remaining in the first half as the host Shipbuilders held off Belfast (0-10) in KVAC Class B play.
Banger’s goal came on a shot from just outside the penalty area.
Goaltender Alex Fernald kept the lead for his team, turning aside five shots as Morse improved to 6-4 and visits Gardiner on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Lions keeper Max Lewis had 16 saves.

Russell Marr and Brandon Goud tallied first-half goals as the 6-4 Wolverines picked up a Mountain Valley Conference win on the road.
Kevin Lynch scored on a penalty kick in the second frame to compete the scoring.
Conlon Ranta had eight saves for the win, while Winthrop (1-8-1) keeper Jackson Ladd had 12 stops.
The teams meet again on Saturday at Wiscasset at 5 p.m.
Girls volleyball
BRUNSWICK — Cheverus earned a 3-0 victory over Brunswick at Harriet Beecher Stowe School.
The Stags captured set scores of 25-7, 25-18, 25-18, dropping the Dragons to 0-10 with a visit to Deering slated for Thursday at 6 p.m.
Katharine Kunhardt led Brunswick with seven assists, with Margaret Dickinson picking up four kills, two service aces and one block. Victoria Stevens added three kills and a block, while Sophie Katz finished with three aces.
Field hockey
TOPSHAM — Hannah Minns and Molly Harmon scored two goals each to power Mt. Blue to a 6-0 KVAC win over Mt. Ararat.
Minns also earned an assist, while Adelle Foss and Ellie Pelletier added a goal each.
Mt. Blue (11-0-1) held a 28-2 penalty corner advantage.
Mt. Ararat goaltender Haley Frizzle turned away 29 shots as the Eagles fell to 3-9 and host Lewiston on Saturday at 11 a.m.

At Thorndike, Rachelle Ravin scored the winning goal midway through the second half to power Mt. View to a KVAC win.
Kimberly St. Pierre scored for Morse (3-7-1), which hosts Winslow on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
In goal, Sophie Wilson had a big day for the Shipbuilders, turning aside 21 shots.
Brianna Tripp and Devon Burgess added a goal each for Mt. View, with Alexis Bowman making two saves.
