The State Individual Golf Championships were held at Natanis Golf Course recently, with several area golfers in action.

In the Class A boys competition, a close battle ensued as five golfers finished within two strokes.

Cole Anderson of Camden Hills fired a 1-over par 73 to earn a one-shot victory over Gorham’s Lucas Roop.

Mt. Ararat freshman Caleb Manuel shot a 2-over 74 to finish in a three-way tie for second place with Scarborough’s Anthony Burnham and Greely’s Tate Porter.

Eagles Cade Charron and Cam Cox tied for 23rd at 84, while Brunswick’s Zach Grant fired a 90, good for 29th.

In Class B, MCI’s Eric Dugas won by four strokes with a 73. Fryeburg Academy’s Tyler Worcester was second at 77, followed by Old Town’s Chris Kauppila with a 78.

Ethan Sclar of Freeport fired an 84 to finish in a tie for 11th.

The Class C title went to Mattanawcook Academy’s Logan Thompson, who posted a 5-under 67 for an eight-stroke victory over Mitchell Tarrio of Kents Hill. Ben Tuttle of Hodgdon was third at 79.

Wiscasset’s Grant Hefler tied for 11th with an 85.

And in the girls competition, Bailey Plourde of Lincoln Academy and Greely’s Erin Holmes tied with rounds of 73, four shots clear of Thornton Academy’s Jordan Laplume.

Valerie Doucette of Lisbon, Emma Park of Brunswick and Freeport’s Molly Whelan competed, with Doucette’s 93 good for a tie for 15th, Park’s total of 100 putting her in a tie for 21st and Whelan taking 34th at 111. Brunswick’s Bronte Fontaine withdrew.
