Why are you running for office?

First off, people are tired of politicians and it’s time to break the cycle! I’m going take on the politicians in Augusta to bring real results for our families and community. Work for more government oversight
Eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse that wastes our tax dollars. Building a pro-growth environment that will attract new jobs and industry.Keep taxes low and fund our community’s priorities first. I will work to forge powerful and lasting coalitions across the political aisle in order to craft common sense legislation that provides solutions to the issues facing Mainers.
I will work to make headway on economic growth, lower energy costs, affordable prescriptions for the elderly and work on heroin epidemic.

• Income Tax: Gov. LePage would like to lower Maine’s income tax rate and eventually eliminate it, by increasing the state’s sales tax and expanding it across a broader range of goods and services. Do you support this proposal?
  • NoNeeds to be a balance, people will find other ways to purchase goods circumventing the system and it will hurt businesses.
• Background Checks: Do you support background checks for privately sold firearms in Maine?

• Minimum Wage: In light of the ballot question facing voters this fall, do you support raising the state’s minimum wage from $7.50 to $12 an hour by 2020?

    It will create more unemployment, companies and business will reduce staff and do the same work with less employees, it also effects the employees earning over minimum wage. it will inflate the economy by means of businesses and companies will increase the cost of consumer goods.
• Marijuana: Do you support legalization of marijuana for recreational use?
  • NoI do support it, but not the way this bill is proposed. Should be an open and fair market. And also should not effect the caregiver growers.
• Addiction/Overdoses: Do you believe the state is doing enough in response to the rise in heroin/opiate addiction and overdoses? If not, what else should be done?
  • As a paramedic I’ve seen first hand the effects of the heroin/opiate addictions! From the addicts to the families around them! When you hear from users and addicts that, it’s hard to get help in this state, that’s sad! We need more recovery/support centers, more public education and law enforcement. It going to take all 3 phases not just one of them. We have done a real good job at the enforcement piece but feel we need to work harder on the recovery/support and public education piece.
