Actor to invoke 17th century at meeting

Harlan Baker, actor, teacher, storyteller and writer, will appear in 17th-century clothing (including armor) at the Bridgton Historical Society’s annual meeting at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 23. The meeting will be held at the museum on Gibbs Avenue in downtown Bridgton. Baker’s presentation will use the Salem Witch Trials, the story of George Burroughs, and King Phillips War (1675-76) to explore relations between Massachusetts and Maine in the 17th century.

The program will be preceded by a brief business meeting, which will include an important by-laws change regarding trustee terms, as well as reports on the organization’s activities in the last year, plans for the upcoming year, and the election of board members. The public is invited to attend; non-members are encouraged to make a $5 donation, or they can become members by joining at the door.
