STANDISH — Trailing 14-7 midway through the fourth quarter, the Bonny Eagle football team would score a touchdown and converted the 2-point conversion to beat Thornton Academy 15-14.

After a scoreless first quarter, TA quarterback Mike Laverriere would get things started by scoring a rushing touchdown, giving the Trojans the 7-0 lead with 10:50 remaining in the first half.

The Scots would later tie it up with a touchdown pass to Alex Sprague, evening the score at 7-7 seconds before the halftime break.

Laverriere would strike again, taking a 58-yard rush all the way for a touchdown on the first play of the second half, giving TA the 14-7 edge.

Both teams would grind the rest of the way, however the Scots managed to get an interception at midfield, which would eventually lead to the game-winning score.

TA finishes the year 7-1, and No. 2 heading into the Class A South playoffs.

Biddeford 33, Leavitt 8

The Tigers rebounded from a tough week 7 loss with a big win over hosting Leavitt, Friday.

Leavitt would jump out to an early 8-0 lead, however the Tigers would storm back and get four rushing touchdowns prior to halftime, taking the 26-8 lead at the break. Colin Petit and Colin Lavigne would score Biddeford’s rushing touchdowns.

Quarterback Joey Curit would connect with Patrick Pearl for one last score in the third quarter.

Biddeford finishes the regular season at 7-1.

Kennebunk 27, Noble 7

Kennebunk topped hosting Noble Friday night to complete its perfect 8-0 year, as well as lock up the top seed in the Class B South playoffs.

Nolan Ragnarsson kicked things off for the Rams, scoring Kennebunk’s first touchdown to make it 6-0. Quarterback Tripp Bush would later take in a QB keeper for the score, giving the Rams the 13-0 lead at the end of the first.

Cam Lovejoy and Jake Littlefield would each rush for touchdowns in the second quarter to put the game out of reach.

Dirigo 12, Old Orchard Beach 6

Old Orchard Beach fell to Dirigo 12-6 Friday evening on the road. Each team entered Friday’s match even, but Dirigo held on for the close victory.

Boys Soccer

Thornton Academy 2, Marshwod 1 (OT)

Thornton Academy would grind out a tough playoff win over Marshwood Friday. Tied at 1-1 in overtime, Noah Niles would net the game-winner for the Trojans, sending them to the Class A South quarterfinals.

Niles would also score TA’s first goal in the first half.

Westbrook 4, Kennebunk 0

The Rams’ impressive season came to a close Friday, losing in a shutout to Westbrook in the Class B South prelims.
