SACO — Linwood “Jake” Mulligan, 69, of Saco, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 28, 2016 in Garland.

He was born in Kingman on April 1, 1947, a son of Herman and Daisy (Lancaster) Mulligan. He graduated from Lee Academy in Lee.

Jake served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1968. He graduated from Husson College in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration/accounting.

Jake was employed as an accountant for many years, most recently proprietor of Mulligan & Company in Biddeford.

He was passionate about his country and veteran’s affairs. Jake was district commander of York County American Legion Post 26 and was on the board of directors for Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1044. He also served as a judge advocate for the AMVETS.

He was preceded in death by: his brother, Robert Mulligan; and by his sister, Darlene St. Peter.

He is survived by: his wife of 12 years, Sharon (Ringdahl) Mulligan; his daughter, Susan J. Mooers and her husband Jeff; and his two grandchildren, Cameron and Alyson. He is also survived by: his brother, Terrence Mulligan and his wife Marion; his brother, Richard Mulligan; his sister, Verdene Thompson and her husband Cyrus; and by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016, with American Legion Prayer Service at 5 p.m. and VVA Honor Guard to follow, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St., Saco. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, at Southern Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale.
