Free monthly movie
Pack a lunch and show up for a free movie at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the Watchit Lake Room of the Standish Municipal Center. “The Jungle Book,” starring Scarlett Johanson, Ben Kingsley and Christopher Walken will be shown. Reservations are strongly encouraged; call Jen DeRice, 642-2875.
Senior trip to Stone Mountain Arts
Back by popular demand, Standish Recreation’s Senior Programs plans a trip to Brownfield to the Stone Mountain Arts Center from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30. Carol Noonan will perform traditional Christmas and holiday music and a home-cooked meal will be served. The deadline to register for the trip is Tuesday, Nov. 22, and a there must be a minumum of 10/maximum of 24 registrations. The cost is $39 and participants will depart from and return to the Municipal Center.
At the Library
The next meeting of the book group, which meets on the third Monday of the month at the library, will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 20. The book is “The Good Earth,” by Pearl S. Buck.
Also, Senior Socials have started again at the library on Mondays. All Standish seniors are welcome. Register in advance. For more information, call 899-8738.
Rabies clinic
A dog and cat rabies vaccination clinic is scheduled for 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Buxton Public Works Garage, 215 Portland Road, next door to the Buxton Town Hall. The cost will be $8 per vaccination, cash only. All dogs must be on a leash and cats must be carriers. For faster service, bring the previous year’s vaccination certificate.
