ALFRED — In unofficial totals and with three communities left to report results, Democrat Bryan Chabot held a commanding lead over independent incumbent Robert M.A. Nadeau for York County Judge of Probate.
Nadeau, who recently returned to the bench after a 30-day suspension, was first elected probate judge in the late 1990s and served until he was defeated in the 2008 election. He was returned to the bench by voters in 2012.
Without figures available from the towns of Cornish, Hollis and Kittery, Chabot, of Wells, was leading the three-way race by about 4,500 votes, with Nadeau in second place and candidate Bernard J. Broder coming in a distant third.
According to unofficial totals —without the three towns — Chabot was leading with 38,745 votes, Nadeau had 34,209 and Broder trailed the pack with 24,078.
