SHAPLEIGH — Incumbent Mike Cote, who ran as an Independent, was returned to another four-year term as a York County Commissioner Tuesday. Cote, of Shapleigh, handily beat his opponent, Republican James McCarthy of Lyman, 10,909-7.708, in unofficial totals.
The district includes Alfred, Lyman, Sanford, Shapleigh and Waterboro.
As of Wednesday, Democrat Richard Clark has taken the race for County Commission District 5, which represents Wells, Ogunquit, Eliot, Kittery and York.
With results from Kittery coming in Wednesday, Clark received a total 12,669 votes, narrowly defeating his opponent, Republican Kenneth Lemont, who received a close 12,184 votes.
